No needles
Ear seeds and acupressure
Ear seeds are tiny seeds, usually from a plant called vaccaria, taped to points on the ear. You press them for a few seconds when you feel wound up. Acupressure is steady, gentle pressure with the fingers on points on the hands, feet, neck and shoulders. Neither one uses a needle.
Who usually comes for it
People who would rather not have needles
Anyone with a needle fear, or who is a little unsure
Students who want something to use between visits

A visit, in order
How a visit goes
A first visit takes about 75 minutes and a follow-up about 45.
- 01
We talk
Your sleep, your week, and what you would like to try.
- 02
We choose points
On the ear, hands, feet or shoulders. You can keep your clothes on.
- 03
You rest
Seeds go on, or we press, for a few quiet minutes.
- 04
You take some home
We show you where to press, and for how long.
Seeds stay on for a few days and fall off or peel off by themselves. An ear can feel tender or warm where you press, and that passes.
Before you come
Tell us first, and what it does not do
Ear seeds and acupressure can be a whole visit, or part of an acupuncture visit. We start where you are comfortable.
Tell us first
Say so when you book and again in the room, so we can change the plan or skip a step:
Skin that reacts to tape or adhesive
Pregnancy, or trying to conceive
Blood thinners, or a bleeding disorder
Pain or an injury where we plan to press
Lymph node removal, on either side
What it does not do
It is not a replacement for medical care, and results vary.
It does not replace your doctor, your prescriber or therapy, and it does not change your medicines.
See a doctor first for chest pain, a sudden change in sleep or mood with no clear reason, a fever, or anything that has you worried.
If you feel unable to cope, call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911.
